New holiday, new outfit?

It's that time of year again! The parties. The dinners. The family gatherings. It's such a great time to spend with the people we love most but it's also a time that we end up feeling the pressure to dress to impress. In the past, I would spend a couple hundred dollars on a gold sparkled dress for New Years Eve, or an outfit for Thanksgiving that would be worn once and then would never see the light of day again. This year, I'm diving into my closet to see what I already have that can be dressed up for holiday celebrations.

1. Jumpsuit with layer

Depending on the weather where you are, this idea can be done a few different ways. Here in Nashville, it tends to be cold but not TOO cold. I'm looking at pairing my jumpsuit with a sweater, a leather jacket or even both. Throw on a heeled bootie or some wedges and you're ready to go!

2. Black denim

Black denim gives me life! It's so versatile you can do just about anything with it! I would pair it with a dressier blouse and a leather or bomber type jacket. Again, I would throw on any type of heeled shoe (bootie, wedge, etc.) to elevate it a little!

3. Little black dress

And then of course there's the classic black dress! Depending on the weather, I will pair it with this Jamie + the Jones T Top or another the sweater pictured above. It'll also be easy to add heavier layers, if need be.

This year I'm trying to not buy any special outfits just for the sake of the holidays. My challenge is if I do end up buying something, making it something that I can continue to wear and won't just be thrown away. What's your holiday style?
